Alfredo Barbini

Biography

Born in Murano in 1912. He studied at the Abate Zanetti Art School. At the age of 20 he worked for the Vetreria Franchetti and for the S.A.I.A.R. Ferro-Toso & Co. firm. After becoming a master glassblower, he worked for the Zecchin Martinuzzi firm, hereby together with the prestigious designer Napoleone Martinuzzi. For a short period in 1936 he works for Barovier Seguso & Ferro .
In 1937 he joined V.A.M.S.A. and worked there during the wartime years. He became a partner in Vistosi's and then of Cenedese's from 1947 to 1950. During that year - 1950 - he opened his own glass factory.
He never stopped working until died in 2006. Nowadays the factory is owned by his son Flavio.
