Millefiori
Millefiori

Literally “a thousand of flowers”.
This is used to describe small mosaic sections of glass made by fusing and marbling together regular arrangements of coloured canna, then pulling out the resulting thick form to produce a length of multicoloured cane. This is cut and chopped into small pieces. These are used mostly for picking up onto a gather of molten glass (pea) from the bronzino for inclusion into paperweights or for blown vases.
