From 21 November 2021 to 13 March 2022.
"Tapio Wirkkala at Venini" and "Toni Zuccheri at Venini" are two exhibitions side by side on the wonderful island of San Giorgio in Venice (in front of Piazza San Marco.
Both curated by Marino Barovier and dedicated to two artists and designers active in the furnace in the 1960s, Zuccheri and Wirkkala contributed, with their strong personalities, to the character of glass production.
In those years of transformation, Venini was able on the one hand to present new models without renouncing the use of color, and on the other hand to respond to the new minimalist needs in the world of design.
The first aspect was developed in particular by Toni Zuccheri, to whom we owe the extraordinary series of poultry and farmyard animals, which were soon joined by brightly colored vases with organic lines, inspired by the plant kingdom.
Since 1966 the furnace also enters into a collaboration with the Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala, who brings his experience with glass to Venice at the Iittala glass factory, combining Nordic culture with Murano craftsmanship, obtaining remarkable results.
