Born in Vitebsk in 1887 he died in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in 1985. He studied in St. Petersburgh with Léon Bakst, who introduced him to the Impressionists. He went to Paris in 1910 and joined the "Historical Avant - Garde". Subjected to racial persecution, many of his works went destroyed. The stained glass windows in the Cathedral of Metz (1958 - 1968) are among his important works. During the 60s he worked for I.V.R. Mazzega and for Fucina degli Angeli.
