Stefano Toso

Stefano Toso

Stefano Toso was born on November 11th, 1958, in Venice, into a family with a long history of glassmaking. He began his apprenticeship with his father, Berto, at a young age in their family glass works. In 1975, he started training as a glassmaker at the A.L.T. Glassworks. Later, he completed an apprenticeship in engraving at the F. Moretti Glassworks and under Livio Seguso.

In 1977, Stefano opened his own state-of-the-art furnace and cold working studio, where he created his original glass pieces. Working with master Egidio Costantini, he produced pieces inspired by the famous Fucina Degli Angeli. He gained experience in various fields of artistic production but specialized in enhancing the form of glass through precise cold work and etching, a skill he developed through his association with Livio Seguso.

In 1982, Stefano opened a furnace in partnership with Romano Donà, where he perfected his art for the next 12 years. During this time, he collaborated with various artists, including Robert WillsonKyohei Fujita, and Lucio Bubacco. Stefano and Lucio Bubacco developed new techniques to create an innovative collection of glasswork for galleries and collectors worldwide.

Stefano Toso is now retired, leaving behind a legacy of masterful glasswork and contributions to the art of glassmaking.
