Andrea Tagliapietra was born in Murano in the 50s and he started working the glass at the age of 14 following the footsteps of his father Erminio, at that time one of the most talented glass masters of Salviati & C.

In his youth, he first started working as an apprentice and then as an assistant until became a glass master in 1979.

Nevertheless he wanted more: in 1980, he started to create works that, as years went by, became popular and successful thanks to their particular expressiveness and style, their formal and chromatic balance which were in no way inferior to those of the great XX Century artists.

Nowadays ne is considered one of the specialists of the massello and of the calcedonio techniques and some of his creations are displayed in private collections in Palm Beach, New York, Chicago and Tokyo.

I just bought a medium size CALCEDONIO LOVE KNOT for a wedding present to my half-brother. We spent 28 years apart before we even knew about each other.
The sculpture is just magnificently beautiful. Its form, shape, colour and meaning make it the perfect gift. Thank you for such exquisite work. (from Syndey, Australia).
