Born in 1895 and passed in 1976.
He was a Catalan, who arrived in Paris at the age of eight, was already swinging iron canes and practicing blown technique.

He did his apprenticeship alongside his father, a glassmaker like all the Sala. Despite the School of Fine Arts and painting, which remains his formation, Jean Sala has remained faithful to the oven near which the processes of the old Venetian glassmakers were transmitted to him.
He studies the work of the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs. But copying is not enough, the artist designs the pieces, seeks volume, elegance, color. Linking the fantasy of his finds to the burning sand of the crucible is one of his joys. He carefully chooses the metal oxides and places his keys in the fire.
From 1933 to 1939, he created for the crystal works of Saint Louis a table service, vases, bowls, candlesticks and animal subjects including his popular fish.
He exhibited with his father until the 1920s. Then in national and international exhibitions.

Pulegoso effect blown glass fish, c. 1930, Venice Pierre Rosenberg collection.
