Triennale Design Museum presents a selection of glass artworks by Carlo Nason.
Born in Murano in 1935, Nason comes from one of the oldest family of glassmakers on the island. Grown by attending the masters who worked in the family furnace, he’s immediately intuited and investigated the potential of glass, steeped in history and memory.
Carlo Nason has mastered the finest techniques of glassmaking and - demonstrating an innovative attitude – he employed them in creating design objects that blend technique and craftsmanship, tradition and innovation.
Early in his career, in the 1960s, working with the family glassworks V. Nason & C. with which he created several pieces that are present in the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, New York. Between 1965 and 1980 is proud to partner with Mazzega Glassworks Murano, whose products, now discontinued, have been sold to art collectors in numerous international auctions. He has collaborated with the most important Muranese companies: Vetreria Vistosi , Carlo Moretti , Livio Seguso , De Majo .
He’s designed special ski shoes for Garmont shoes, ceramics for Baldelli and he’s worked on graphics for various companies.
He is a consultant for Casinos Austria of Vienna.
Passionate about photography, in the 1960s and 1970s he’s won numerous competitions.
His artworks are in the collections of museums and numerous private collections.
