Cristiano Bianchin

Cristiano Bianchin is a contemporary Venetian artist, born in 1963 in Venice, where he still lives and works.

During his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts he had the opportunity to be a student of Emilio Vedova
Bianchin conceives his artistic language as an interpretation of experimental poetics involving the possible exchange between the sensuality of seeing and the materials used in art. His first experiments with glass date back to 1992, when he began working with the furnaces of Murano. He believes in the value of classical Murano glassmaking techniques and compares them with more recent and contemporary formal languages.
A distinguishing characteristic of Cristiano is his passion for simple forms, which has led him to insist that master glassmakers and grinders sacrifice their virtuosity to achieve formal simplicity perhaps still unheard of on the island of Murano.
His main themes are developed mainly through forms related to the human body, both in glass and in the use of textile art and drawing.
In 1993 he was invited to exhibit two large works in hand-worked hemp and a large drawing at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, in the Deterritorial Section of the 45th Venice Art Biennale, and in 2009 at the VENICE Pavilion, 53rd Venice Art Biennale, where some of his glass works were part of the exhibition ..."Fa come natura face in foco" (Dante).
In 2011 he presented a solo room at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris on the occasion of the exhibition: Verre à Venise. 3 artistes, 3 visions - Cristiano Bianchin, Yoichi Ohira, Laura de Santillana.
In 2017 he won the Venezia Vetro award.
Over the years many important galleries and museums have exhibited Cristiano Bianchin's works.
Cristiano Bianchin's works have been offered at auction several times, with realization prices ranging from $122 USD to $10,625 USD, depending on the size and medium of the work. As of 2013, the record price for this artist at auction is US$10,625 for CRISALIFORME (CHRYSALISLIKE), sold at Christie's New York in 2014.
