Incamiciato

Incamiciato

This is a glass consisting of two superimposed layers of lattimo glass and of coloured transparent glass on occasion with the submersion of gold and silver leaf so as to obtain an opaque effect.

This is a much simpler execution than that of pasta vitrea , that involves more complex technical problems, and began to be used during the 20s at almost all the most important works such as Venini & C. , F.lli Toso , Vetreria Artistica Barovier & C., C. Maschio , etc.
Incamiciato glass has a very considerable visual impact, especially in large vases, as the chromatic solutions are indeed numberless, and it found extensive application in the field of lighting fixtures as the presence of lattimo glass allowed the optimum diffusion of light in combination with forms that were utterly new at the time, such as the chandeliers produced by the S.A.I.A.R. Ferro-Toso firm during the early 30s.
