A Murano glass sculpture depicting a trotting horse, crafted using the solid glass technique.
Designed and signed by Luigi Moro and executed by Alessandro Barbaro, this dynamic piece captures the power and elegance of the horse in motion, symbolizing energy, freedom, and strength.
A distinctive feature of this artwork is the golden mane, which adds a refined contrast and enhances the glass’s brilliance in the light.
The technique used is Massello, a process for working with solid glass.
This method first appeared in Murano in the late 1920s thanks to Flavio Poli at Libero Vitali’s I.V.A.M. glassworks, where the first solid glass sculptures were created.
Although initially met with skepticism by traditional critics—who viewed it as a departure from the classic lightness of Murano glass—the technique was later widely adopted throughout the island for its expressive potential.
The sculpture measures approximately H 24 × 37 × 38 cm (height × width × depth), equivalent to approximately 9.4 × 14.6 × 15 inches.
It is a one-of-a-kind piece.
