Paperweight with Murrine Round - Murano Glass

A beautiful example of the traditional Murano mosaic technique, also known as Millefiori.
This decorative paperweight is created using numerous small pieces of colored glass cane, carefully arranged by hand and then fused together at approximately 800°C (1472°F).
After firing, the glass is slowly cooled in special tempering ovens to prevent cracking. Once completely cooled, each piece is individually ground and polished by hand to achieve its final smooth and brilliant finish.
Made entirely by hand in Murano, Italy.
