Sculpture of a violion in Murano glass, made using the Massello and Calcedonio techniques.
There's nothing a great Muranese glass master can't achieve. Take this Murano glass Violin for example: its dimension and weight make it difficult to create. Still, the skilled hands of maestro Tagliapietra have given birth to an exquisite replica of the instrument.
Its peculiar colors are due to the calcedonio technique. The coloring effect is obtained by adding to the molten glass a mixture based on different metal oxides. The results are incredible.
Hand-made in Murano by Andrea Tagliapietra, following the ancient Murano glass techniques.
