To celebrate the 10th edition of The Venice Glass Week, Murano Illumina il Mondo returns to Venice from 13 September to 1 November 2026, bringing the extraordinary creativity and craftsmanship of Murano glass to one of the world’s most iconic squares.

One of the flagship events of The Venice Glass Week 2026, Murano Illumina il Mondo brings together internationally renowned artists and designers with some of Murano’s leading glass furnaces, creating a unique dialogue between contemporary creativity and centuries-old Venetian glassmaking traditions.

Twelve New Chandeliers in St Mark’s Square

For the occasion, St Mark’s Square will once again become an extraordinary open-air exhibition space.

Beneath the historic arches of the Procuratie Vecchie, visitors will discover twelve original light installations, each offering a contemporary interpretation of one of the most emblematic objects in the history of Venetian decorative arts: the chandelier.

Created specifically for this exceptional setting, the works combine artistic vision with the technical expertise of Murano’s master glassmakers.

Among the internationally acclaimed artists and designers involved in the 2026 edition are Norman Foster, Cerith Wyn Evans, Bethan Laura Wood and Pierre Charpin, alongside other leading figures from the worlds of art, architecture and design.

Murano: Tradition Meets Contemporary Art

Murano Illumina il Mondo is much more than an exhibition. It celebrates Murano as a place where an ancient glassmaking tradition continues to evolve through experimentation, design and contemporary art.

Each installation is the result of close collaboration between an artist or designer and a Murano glass furnace, bringing together new ideas with techniques and knowledge passed down through generations of Venetian glassmakers.

The result is an exceptional exhibition in which Murano glass, light, architecture and contemporary creativity meet in the heart of Venice.
